Silver Power is a project that celebrates the freedom of life after work and asks:
What if the retirement crowd are exactly what our wounded planet needs right now?
This short documentary series shows retirees doing great work for the environment, from joining together to regenerate land, clean up beaches and care for wildlife to choosing adventurous eco tours that help the places they visit, and using the freedom of retirement to advocate and create “good trouble."
Silver Power shows the connection and satisfaction of being environment warriors and aims to inspire a generation of retirees to get involved to help the planet.

The World is at a tipping point where we need bold policy, bold choices and all hands on deck for what is coming, and the retired generation has the most time, money and lived knowledge to make a difference. Silver Power will take these inspiring films to cinemas across Australia in partnership with organisations like Rotary, U3A, CWA, Probus etc.
Q&As will feature local environment groups to encourage retirees to join up. The Silver Power website allows retirees to key in their postcode and areas of interest; ocean, fossil fuels, wildlife habitat etc and receive a bespoke list of groups of interest to them.

Silver Power has raised the money to make the films and now we’re seeking support to create the website and kickstart the screening campaign.

Series Director, Lara van Raay, has a 25 year career working in broadcast television, creating content for the ABC, National Geographic, MBC in Dubai and creative agency BDA in London. She has directed over 70 short films and is a director/producer of the web-series Women of the Island, which screened at over 20 festivals with multiple festival award wins. Lara was commissioned to make Road Kill Warriors for the ABC iView ‘Your Planet’ series and edited the Walkley finalist feature documentary Mary Meets Mohammad.
Ros Walker is a documentary producer whose credits include Into the Deep (Netflix, Sundance), Everybody’s Oma (MIFF, SIFF, STAN), Splice Here; A Projected Odyssey (MIFF, DOCNYC), Chasing the Gold and POINTE (Cinefest Oz). Ros co-founded The 100 Project, an online series celebrating the stories of 100-year-olds (over 20m views) and online comedy series Sex or Breakfast (over 6m views).
