Raw Nerve

Now in its fifth year in Tasmania, Wide Angle Tasmania is proud to deliver Raw Nerve 2012, a national production initiative of Screen Australia in partnership with Screen Development Australia (SDA).   Raw Nerve provides new film talent with a unique opportunity to develop high quality short films on a micro-budget.  Each year, three filmmakers are provided with technical support, mentoring from established filmmakers, access to our production and post production equipment, colour grade and sound mix to help produce a 10 minute film.  $4 000 cash completes the production budget.  Raw Nerve is a highly successful model for helping emerging filmmakers gain a foothold in this industry, with previous Raw Nervers’ films being selected for St Kilda Film Festival and other prestigious festivals in New Zealand,  Portugal and America.

Raw Nerve 2012

We will be calling for entries to Raw Nerve 2012 in late February - with applications due mid-April.  We will be running a series of workshops during March focussed on writing the short script to help prepare your idea.

We accept applications in both documentary and drama - but the final films need to be between 5 and 10 mins in length.  This initiative is designed for first time directors to get a break in the industry.
