All 13 entries in the 'A Quickie at the State' short film comp will be screened at the State Cinema as part of the official launch and awards night on Wednesday 14th of March.

WAT are hosting a screening of Tasmanian entries in the 2012 Tropfest competition at the Peacock Theatre in Hobart.

This iconic film festival is on again THIS SUNDAY! 

It's FREE and a great way to kick back under the stars, enjoy some great short films with your friends.

It all kicks off at 7pm with a screening of locally produced films from 2010/2011, followed by the live cross to Sydney for the final 16 films around 8pm.

Wide Angle Tasmania are running a workshop at Montrose Bay High School for young people interested in filmmaking.

National Youth Week are teaming up with The Hobart City Council, Wide Angle Tasmania, Village Cinemas Hobart and YouthBeyondBlue to run a series of workshops for young people interrested in filmmaking.  Lucien Simon will lead the Kingston workshop, which will focus on developing strong visual storytelling and the development of technical and creative skills – using our professional camera, sound and lighting gear.

If you’re ready to seek finance for your films, then you’ll need to know how to put together a tight application. In partnership with Screen Tasmania, Wide Angle Tasmania will lead you through the documents you’ll need to put together a funding application that showcases your ideas in the best possible light.

Wide Angle Tasmania would like to invite screen practitioners to come along, share a drink and get the industry insight gained from conference delegates who attended this year’s Australian International Documentary Conference.

This two-hour session run by Mel Cooper will explain how to create basic (and not so basic) low budget makeup effects for your next horror film and cover questions of cost, planning and on-set logistics. Numbers are limited, as participants will have the chance to obverse up close and ask questions throughout the class.

Come and see another side of Burma. A selection of six to eight fabulous short documentary films made by the students from the Yangon Film School will be screened on the evening.  Australian documentary editor, Melanie Sandford, will present the films and talk a little about the Art Of Documentary Filmmaking workshops held in Rangoon over the last eight years.
